Karolinenstrasse 25 is where you need to go to sample some amazing Vietnamese cooking...XeOm is the name food is the game. Here, the service is incredibly fast (perfect for a business break or study break if you look around you and notice the university students slurping soups and eating fries and steaming plates of rice). This restaurant has managed to create a 'street kitchen' flair without compromising on the really important factor: the food. Other eateries shelve out a fortune to create the 'atmosphere' and forget that in the end food will make or break any establishment. XeOm is comfortable (plastic chairs need not be back-breaking), loud and fast...and with so many authentic asian flavours, I could recommend just about everything on the menu! Jürgen tucked into his hot pho bo tai with great excitement and Laura did not waste time attacking her bowl of crispy noodles, beef and vegetables. And considering how quiet we were at our table....this is always a sign that the food is really good. And then there was still room for a bit of coffee and cake in the student village, Grindel...
