When in Paris, there are a few things one should do…take in the sights, visit a cool café, buy some expensive perfume and be utterly amazed by the distinct French style. We were in awe of the varying styles and beautiful people who flock the streets, paying little attention to trends, by being original and daring in a single breath. This is a fashion mecca, where every woman has that touch of Chanel, that air of freedom and that ‘just out of bed’ look that is simply irresistible. While sitting at ‘hot and happening’ concept store, Merci, drinking our café au lait and Darjeeling teas, we could not help but notice the enormous horse being delivered…as luck would have it, we then spotted a really wonderfully dressed woman sitting on a bike stand and we couldn’t resist the photo op…and she humbly accepted our proposal…turns out this was the designer of the clothing line being presented at Merci, in an exhibition as she mildly remarked, ‘that’s my horse being delivered’…so it was indeed a fashion scoop for us! She smiled away and went on to tell us that the exhibition is moving from Paris to Tokyo, so for all our fans in the far east, take note… The clothing line is called Swildens and you can find the range online at this address: http://www.swildens.fr/# The line is like the designer: cheeky, fashionable with an edge and it will not break the piggy bank, a welcome relief to all the expensive high end gear we are confronted with…so pay the site a visit and if you are in Paris, visit Merci and see the styles on show (as pictured by us above with the indian headdress). For her exhibition, the designer has focused on American Indian style, but there are other very Parisian looks available as well. Our three faves are pictured below: the metallic dress, retailing at 470 euros, Jully Blouson, retailing at 270 euros and blouse Jarre, retailing at 140 euros.
