At 19 Boulevard du Jeu de Paume, you will find a store that definitely sticks out from the others in Montpellier. Here, there are curated decoration pieces that are not only affordable, but also a must-have for any fans of clean minimalism. The dominating colour in this palette is definitely white, but there are marvellous Scandanavian brands to make your heart beat faster, like Pakhuis Oost, Authentics, the Belgians Pomax and Serax...to name just a few. I fell in love with the vases and was disappointed I could not take any with me because packing would have been a nightmare later, but I will be back and this time for much, much more. So, if you are looking for something special, try this shop for some amazingly clever pieces.
When in Montpellier, you should do yourself a favour and stop by at this wonderful restaurant that surprised and delighted me. From the starters of samoosas with goats cheese, honey and mint and the foie gras tatin with spiced bread, to the mains of duck with risotto and the fish skewer with chorizo, to the dessert of spiced biscuit tiramisu and the chocolate layered mousse with strawberries and salted caramel, everything was delicious. Add to this great service and good plating and you have a perfect evening, rounded off with plenty of French wine.
You can find the restauarant at 20 rue des Ecoles Laïques. Enjoy!
Over the last few days I have been very much aware of the importance of the sun...and rain. It seemed that Montpellier was waiting for us to arrive so that it could finally rain...and rain it did...but we did not allow this to damper our mood. Instead, like any wise tourist, we found our way through the mall, and then, when we had had enough of this plastic culture (which is definitely still frozen in the 90's), we upped the intellectual scale by spending a good few hours at the Musée Fabre (which I can highly recommend). With pit stops at various wonderful eateries (including Le Paresseur, Le Grillardin, L'Atelier Gourmand & L'Alliance des Plasirs) Montpellier showed us her culinary side with some excellent cuisine...so now I am on a diet, as I have to be swimsuit ready by July.
