This month we have decided to focus on an artisan that we have been following and who was kind enough to meet me in Cape Town. So, there, in a small coffee shop, she showed me some of the most wonderful jewellery creations I have ever seen. So contemporary and wonderfully crafted. I hope you have all had a wonderful festive season (not that it is over yet!) and that you are all well rested and overfed...from a rather misty Switzerland, I bid you all hello and this is just a teaser shot from the upcoming Bombe du Mois, which is being edited...this time we have someone very special in our feature.
It is the season of many thngs...the season to remember the people we love and the season to give. Me, personally, I love the feeling of how we all gather to meet and are fortunate to be together. We are lucky enough to have safety and love this Christmas season...but many are not as lucky. This is why I wanted to showcase a person who is doing good for those in need.
Meet Anuradha Koirala, A Nepalese social activist who is doing her bit to change the reality she is forced to face on a daily basis. She is dedicating her life to stopping sex trafficking and her non-profit organisation, Maiti Nepal, has already saved thousands of girls from sex slavery and prevented women and children from being trafficked. This season, be thankful for those who love you and are willing to protect you. This season, be thankful for all you have...and look forward to a wonderful start to 2016. Our Christmas music is on all day long...after all, this is the season to be jolly...and fitting our mood is the above look, brought to us by our lovely friend Rithika from San Francisco. We love, love, love the red and the amazing fur (faux, for all you animal lovers!)...and add to this the statement necklace and strappy sandals, we think she is definitely channeling a bit of Yves Saint Laurent, circa 1972...
As with all islands, spotting a good fashion look can be hard as most people tend to wear flip flops and a bikini. Not that there is anything wrong with this, mind you. I am all for good beachwear...but, we managed to find a look that will no doubt carry us through to our trip to Cape Town next year...I saw this outfit at the Uluwatu temple and I loved the proportion and dare I say, it does have a bit of Dries Van Noten about it, don't you think? I have the prefect shirt and trouser combination for this look...and I am always a sucker for a head scarf tied well...now all I must do is hunt down some amazing fabric to tie around my waist...think I will ask my fabulous aunt in Cape Town if she has some to spare!Hopefully she has some ideas for me...
After a thirty degree temperature difference between Switzerland and Bali, I have to say that getting back into the swing of things is tough business...but I am starting to feel normal again. The trip was sensational. The beach was wonderful, the food was amazing and the kindness and generosity of the people of Bali, make visiting this country a remarkable experience. Despite soaring temperatures, we managed to rest a lot, with me living in the pool practically. Added to this a three night stay at a jungle retreat, then you could say we had the best of both worlds. We could not ignore the spiritual side of Bali, as on almost every street corner there is a shrine, so we made a visit to Uluwatu temple, built on a cliff long ago to protect the country from bad spirits. It was a good outing until a monkey tried to steal my Gucci glasses! I slapped him and he dropped them...a tactic I think that was lucky for me but I would not recommend further...maybe my monkey was in a generous mood...all in all, it was just the right type of break we needed and now, it is onwards and forwards to Christmas and the new year...but until that rolls around, we are back bringing you more wonderful faces to light up your day... |
