It is almost ready...our Bombe du Mois for September and this time we turn up the heat...so watch this space for more...
While the expo may have very little to do with fashion, it is still a worthy visit for anyone who is interested in what is going on in the world. Food, a basic need for all of us, is a topic of much discussion these days...for meat-eaters, vegetarians or vegans, we are all in the same boat: we need to plan for the future. The expo allows companies and countries to showcase what they are doing to help our planet survive...and it was done in grand style this year in Milan. We were there to see the sights, and take in the various pavilions. It was a spectacle and a wonder to behold. We managed to see the American, German, Estonian, Vietnamese, Indonesian and a few other smaller ones as well. The queue for viewing Japan was over four hours, so we gave that one a miss and headed over to the Martini rooftop bar instead (one needs a good drink after tackling the crowds!). All in all, a wonderful and inspiring visit (the German pavilion was by far the most dynamic with interactive shows and info points), and in 2020 it is heading to Dubai...so you may see us there!
The journey starts at 05h45 tomorrow morning so I will guaranteed not be in the best of moods (but a good coffee can cure anything!), but with this awaiting me, I am sure Milan will show its best side. At this expo, there will be astonishing showcases from 140 countries, focusing on the wonders of the food technology and answering important questions regarding how we are going to provide healthy and safe food for all, while showing our beloved planet the respect it deserves. We will be there checking it out and then finding images to inspire you...
Picture Credit: image from swatch.com As the season changes, there is more need to wrap up and deciding what to wear can be a mission. That is why for many women, the ideal cover up for this period is a good and trusty poncho. Take this next look, discovered in good old Paris: our model makes the pattern really pop by combining only gold accessories and black boots and jeans. A good decision indeed. Our hot new label discovery is called Erotokritos and is produced in Nicosia, Cyprus where the designer was born and raised. The name alone makes you pay attention and after seeing the full collection in Paris, we are in love . Using european yarns and fabrics and this collection has great knits and basics for men and women. If you are in Paris, drop by at their store at 109 Bd Beaumarchais. We love the patterned looks and from the new collection, here are a few of our favourite looks… Picture credits: all images taken from erotokritos.com
We are all set for a weekend in Cologne, or Köln as the Germans say...to touch base with Katharina and Co. and see what we can find for all of you...so time to escape the rain in Zurich and hopefully the air is clearer there...so, have a good weekend and if you get caught in the rain, be sure to have your brolly and wellingtons!
Picture credit: map from de.wikipedia.org With a great coat, the world is your oyster. It can transform a look, keep out the cold and be a trusted companion that will last you a good couple of seasons if you invest wisely. I love the feeling of unpacking my winter wardrobe and seeing my coats all lined up like trusty soldiers, ready for battling the icy winter months. Our next look, is pure Jil Sander and we love the elegant coat (which he teams with a Nike t-shirt, no less!) and laid back trousers. Here, like the Margiela posted a few days back, the coat has a fashion punch which is sophisticated and also wonderfully simple. Our top coats are: this amazing green one from Anne Demeulemeester, selling at 1850 euros, this patterned black and white coat from The Gigi retailing at 1050 euros and finally, splash out with bold yellow and black with this one from Ports 1961, selling at 1431 euros. It seems that autumn is steadily heading our way. We have the colder mornings, followed by warm days and then chilly nights. These are the days where we are unsure what to wear and how to incorporate our summer into our winter wardrobes. Some say that now is the time to layer…we say, get your hands on a good coat and let that be your statement piece. Our next Paris look is wonderfully elegant. We love the Margiela coat (here you can never go wrong) and the minimal touches she adds to her look, like the ever-cool Converse sneakers. Our top coats are as follows, all from farfetch.com (the website that does the online sales for our new fave store in Paris, Tom Greyhound). We love this oversized olive coat from MM6 Maison Margiela, selling at 630 euros. Then, this perfect long grey MSGM coat (paired with faded jeans and camel would be amazing) priced at 565 euros. Finally, break your piggy bank with this ultra hip, graphic coat by Roksanda, retailing at 1845 euros. Picture credits: all images taken from farfetch.com
Today is cold…at least this is how I am feeling…the temperature has dropped 15 degrees and we are experiencing our first autumn feeling in Switzerland. The season is changing and we are sad to be saying adieu to summer. So, befitting such weather we are posting a hot look from Paris, and this time the boys are in focus. We love the Kris Van Assche sweater. It is graphic without being too bold. Add to this the eternally cool sneakers and obligatory black jeans the French cannot live without and you have a cool, urban look with just enough fashion clout. Our designer fashion shopping stop has to be Tom Greyhound, situated on 19, rue Saintonge in the Marais district. We love the eclectic collection, to-die-for designers and of course the ultra modern feel of this Korean store. For more details, visit them online at tomgreyhound.fr To get you around the city, try these great Alexander McQueen sneakers, retailing at 460 euros. Also, try this gorgeous Kenzo jumper, selling at 370 euros to keep the cold at bay. Finally, try this amazing college jacket from Saint Laurent, retailing at 1590 euros. We all love a bit of sparkle. It just adds a touch of the fairy tale to our rather grey days and especially at the start of another week, we need all the glamour we can lay our humble hands on to get ourselves tip top ready and fashionably styled…our next look is from Paris and we love the mixture of textures. From the fuzzy hat, to the modern print skirt, to the silver knitted sweater…and those tights! For some affordable sparkle, head on to Next, where you can lay your hands on some great buys…try these pointy flats selling at 32 pounds, or some premium leather lace-up brogues, retailing at 55 pounds. Finally, if you are still planning on jetting somewhere warm, you will need these great snakeskin espadrilles, at a knockout price of 18 pounds! Picture Credits: all shoes taken from next.co.uk
