On the Run!

We love a city look that seems chic and efforttless and with hair like this, how could you not want a photo?  The pants and sweater combi is nothing new, but we love the almost vintage appeal of the sneakers and the skinny combat-green cargo pants are hot right now…and add the shopper with a slashing of sparkle and we are like magpies circling…after all, who doesn’t love a bit of glitter during the day?

We found a great deconstructed cocoon top (167776) from Raquel Allegra, through matchesfashion.com, selling at 258 euros, (the shorter front and longer back balances the sweater very well)
http://tinyurl.com/jvjnqx2

and these Utzon khaki leather pants through anitahaas.com, selling at 929 euros (a great  addition to your wardrobe for a bit of rock chick appeal!)
http://tinyurl.com/l2v95aa

and cotton is the way to go with this Susan Ibrahim fabric tote from &otherstories.com, selling at 45 euros (for the artist in you)

Be honest, this look would make you sit up and take notice. How could, this fashion blogger walk by and NOT want a picture? Even if the shoes are way out there and the leather accents a bit too much, the overall effect is amazing…and on a cloudy day in Paris, what could be more enchanting than a shock of electric pink hair floating through the masses?

We adore the attention to detail here. The minimal make-up, the almost scholarly bag, teamed with the leather dress (very Fendi!) and the nod to Prada with the roll neck sweater, is a fashion mix that is tough and yet very clever.

We were so taken by two items from Closed, a Hamburg clothing company with a fierce denim line, that we found they were totally suited to this post, so, here is a great limited edition skywalk leather shirt from closed.com, retailing at 850 euros
http://tinyurl.com/ngn5uym

and this leather dress also from closed.com, selling at 599 euros is a great basic, for a gothic injection to your wardrobe (which happens to be a key trend for winter 2013)
http://tinyurl.com/ozbssvc

and keep it mean with these Creepers from Underground, available through topshop.com, at 140 euros…which will take your llok to underground punk London…and if it was good enough for Karl, then it’s certainly good enough for us!

The Cat's Whiskers

Let’s face it, Paris is overrun with beautiful people. The city seems to hum on another type of energy and this is what makes it so inspiring. On our way to Merci, we spotted our next model on her way down the street and we were struck by the feline features and the clever big cat t-shirt. The leo ballerinas are very hot right now and the worn-in ‘Burberry’ look of the coat is casual, yet very elegant. And we love how the shoulder strap matches the leo print of the ballet flats!

Want the same big cat look with the same packing power, then try this great DKNY wool and leather coat in stone, retailing at 889 euros, through stylebop.com,
http://tinyurl.com/oojdc3p

and as all furry animals are hot on trend t-shirt wise, get your hands on a cool shirt from mango.com, retailing at around 15 euros
http://tinyurl.com/owk77jb

and decorate your feet with a great set of ballerinas…perfect for running around a big city! Our faves are these from Tory Burch. You can get these through fashionhype.com, at 276 euros

dans l'univers de Juliette Swildens

When in Paris, there are a few things one should do…take in the sights, visit a cool café, buy some expensive perfume and be utterly amazed by the distinct French style. We were in awe of the varying styles and beautiful people who flock the streets, paying little attention to trends, by being original and daring in a single breath. This is a fashion mecca, where every woman has that touch of Chanel, that air of freedom and that ‘just out of bed’ look that is simply irresistible.
Bild
While sitting at ‘hot and happening’ concept store, Merci, drinking our café au lait and Darjeeling teas, we could not help but notice the enormous horse being delivered…as luck would have it, we then spotted a really wonderfully dressed woman sitting on a bike stand and we couldn’t resist the photo op…and she humbly accepted our proposal…turns out this was the designer of the clothing line being presented at Merci, in an exhibition as she mildly remarked, ‘that’s my horse being delivered’…so it was indeed a fashion scoop for us! She smiled away and went on to tell us that the exhibition is moving from Paris to Tokyo, so for all our fans in the far east, take note…

The clothing line is called Swildens and you can find the range online at this address: http://www.swildens.fr/#

The line is like the designer: cheeky, fashionable with an edge and it will not break the piggy bank, a welcome relief to all the expensive high end gear we are confronted with…so pay the site a visit and if you are in Paris, visit Merci and see the styles on show (as pictured by us above with the indian headdress). For her exhibition, the designer has focused on American Indian style, but there are other very Parisian looks available as well. Our three faves are pictured below: the metallic dress, retailing at 470 euros, Jully Blouson, retailing at 270 euros and blouse Jarre, retailing at 140 euros.

We here at Dashing George HQ, feel that there is often little written about pregnant mothers…and their fashion. While the norm is that we should all be thin and have supermodel proportions, we want to present women in ALL their glory and pregnant women do indeed have their style all worked out, as you can see by our next model, spotted in sunny Johannesburg.  While the overall look is understated, careful attention to accessories made us stop and take pictures! The bag and shoes are perfectly in sync and the retro sunglasses match the vintage belt and necklace perfectly…

If you are a yummy mummy, try these ideas…how about a pair of great, comfortable ankle boots from Comptoir des Cotonniers, retailing at 225 euros,
http://tinyurl.com/plvkpyt

then pair them with this Heroine leather tote from Alexander McQueen, available through harveynichols.com at 1240 pounds
http://tinyurl.com/pzr5u4b

and then adorn your face with these great sunglasses through asos.de at around 13 euros
(which is indeed a real steal!).

While passing a hair salon, we spotted our next model at work. With this fresh haircut and an almost gothic approach to her outfit, we loved the contrast of hard jewelry combined with an almost cherubic face. This, teamed with a top (which she told us, was actually a dress until she cut the bottom half off!) and killer boots, was a wonderful find for our blog.

Want the same worn in look? Try this Massachusetts top from American Vintage available through mybestbrands.de at around 40 euros.

Wear it with these ‘Suzie’ metallic boots from Kurt Geiger, available through kurtgeiger.com at 120 pounds,
http://tinyurl.com/pb42zhb

and then accessorise your look with this great perspex bangle through asos.de at around 34 euros

Labels and Love

You could recognize the love of top notch designers from a mile away on our next model. We spotted her window-shopping in San Francisco and the tunic top caught our attention at first…then the bag, then the coat…and so on…it is a wonderful mix of expensive labels and high street fashion. The kind of look we, here at Dashing George HQ, can identify with. This is a look that combines both worlds and this fusion is both creative and eye-catching.

Why not try these on for size? The Ziggy paradessus double-breasted coat (162158) from Isabel Marant available through matches.com at 970 euros,
http://tinyurl.com/psza7ww

combine this with Aviator sunglasses from Dries van Noten, available through brownsfashion.com at 210 pounds

and just to save your bank account, try this top found at zara.com for around 40 euros.

This mini dress was so snug and perfect that we couldn’t walk by and ignore it! She was working in a boutique when we spotted her and she did us a huge favour by taking her break earlier, to stand in front of our camera and we were only too happy to click away!
The outfit is a great mix of uptown chic and laid back fashion. Teaming an understated cardigan and clutch purse, it summed up the perfect Californian weather. And with a dazzling smile and mile long legs, who wouldn’t want to take a photo?

On our trawl through the online sites, we found some inspiration for you…try this woven dress on sale at mango.com for under 45 euros!
http://tinyurl.com/pdjlcty

Or how about these gorgeous Chloé sandals found at farfetch.com on sale for 385 euros?

And then you could perhaps try this awesome Susan Ibrahim clutch from stories.com, retailing at 55 euros…

With this look, more laid back is not possible. We simply adore this west coast approach to casual wear. It does not get breezier than this. From the nautical nod through the blue stripes, to the Italian feel of shoes without socks, this is a very global look, even incorporating the baseball trend through the cap.

Feel like taking a holiday without leaving home, try these on for size:

My Yard ‚Shaka‘ Tank Top available at 36 euros online at topman.com

Jeans shorts at h&m.com for around 25 euros
