If there is one person with an impressive shoe collection, then it is my gorgeous friend, Susi. She has, over many years, collected many glorious and wonderful creations, all safely stowed away in their original cartons (something I always highly recommend) in her treasure chest of a wardrobe. But, like any woman with enough fashion sense, she loves a good dress. So, when she found this one on a trip to Poland, she naturally had to show it off...and what a find it was! The cut is ingenious, the fabric is mind-bogglingly poppy and we adore the pattern. Add to this the fact that it moves so well when walking, it is a feminine number that causes heads to turn, while being both elegant and refined... The dress is from Polish design company Simple and you can find more wonderful items from their range at www.simple-cp.com

'Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer...those days of soda and pretzels and beer...'28/6/2016 Bismarckstrasse 130 in Hamburg is home to one store you should pop by when you are visiting the port city. Here, housed and curated by my former boss, Gerd Schafft, you will find some great finds, surrounded by some mega art and wonderful furniture. After all, shouldn't shopping be a complete sensory experience? From antique Belgian mirrors, to Afghan carpets, to stone tables and chesterfield style sofas, this assortment is seldom found in one store...and that is just the decor. Their sister store, is still located at Weidenstieg 1, where Gerd started his business back in the day. This store is a true example of what Hamburg's boutiques are: small, unique and special. They are also now online at www.park-mode.de where selected garments can be found.
Also another familiar face, already seen as a Bombe du Mois at Dashing George...the lovely Samare took some time out of her (no doubt) busy schedule to join me for lunch...and as always showed up decked to the nines and looking fabulous...so fabulous that I had to snap her for you...and fitting the 26 degrees I already have here today! So, hello summer (finally).
One of my favourite things to do in Hamburg is to reconnect with old friends and I am sure you will remember Duygu (photographed above on the bustling Mönckerberg Strasse) as she was a Bombe du Mois twice already here at Dashing George. As always, she was late (just kidding, Duygu!) but her lack of punctuality was compensated with a great outfit and a smile so broad, it could have lit up the entire shopping street.
It is time to open a new file: Hamburg. This is a city that has a lot to offer...great people, delicious food and the monumental sights. The evening mood at the Alster is one of my all time favourites as you can find a bit of peace in an otherwise crazy city. Here, the city proudly presents what is is famous for: its water. Thank you Susi, for this picture and for touring the city with me on that day. It was wonderful....and now let us take a look at the creative and fashionable people I managed to discover (and revisit) on this trip.
Italy has a lot to offer. From pasta, to wine, to famous fashion and art. But, let us not forget that this remarkable country houses some of the most inspiring sculptures...and our friend, Bali, discovered a wonderful 'piece' all on her own...thank you for the wonderful image, Bali, and also, for wearing that dress!
When we come across a picture like the one above, we have to post it...it is just too good to ignore...add to this the quintessential care-free spirit and you have a winning combination. Thank you Sarah for the wonderful image and of course La Madeleine for the great photography...it may be heard too often, but the French just have a way with fashion and style...Sarah Kheira Ghenissa
"I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to dance better than myself." That is a quote from the formidable Mikhail Baryshnikov. This made me smile this morning. And it is a fitting line to the above image of my very talented cousin, Aarti. I am no fan, as you all know by now, of over-worked images, where the end result is so squeaky clean that it loses its essence. That is why I love this image because while it is a posed shot, it stays true to Aarti's nature...I hope this inspires you all to 'strike your own pose' and forget about being perfect...we have enough of that already, so break the mould instead.
Picture Credit: Vasti Visser Monday morning and I think we all could need a dash of something fabulous with our morning coffee, don't you agree? What Munich has, is absolute and utter label devotion. They love their big brands and they are loyal followers...of course this is a massive generalisation and to those who are anti-label, living in Munich, my apologies...but I think that the general mood in this very beautiful city is that if you have it, flaunt it...so, when these Chanel booties walked across my path (rather hurriedly, in 'girl-about-town' tempo) at the central station, I had to capture them for you. I could almost see the same determination a certain Miss Chanel would have found fitting. Picture credit: vogue.co.uk
What could be better than Swiss design, handemade proudly in Italy? Yes, the Viu range of glasses are quite something...add to this some amazing personnel who manage to flaunt the wares so well and you have a winning combination. Thank you Stefanie and Julia for posing for me...the images from this meeting are just the ticket when I look out at the rain today. |
