If you look between the hordes in Paris, occasionally there is a beacon of light and we are lucky when this happens even once on a city tour. This light makes all the other people on the street pale in comparison and this is after all why we have this fashion blog. We want to bring you faces and style that make you smile because the person we manage to snap is able to bring a ray of sunshine to your day and inspiration to look at your wardrobe differently. We love this next model because she takes the mannish men’s suit and bowtie to a female level with necklaces and poppy socks. We love the no-lace slipper look and that wonderful face is the cream on our cake! We felt this look echoed a bit of Margiela, and lucky for us, it is sale time, so you can snap up a few things…our top three has to be the cropped floral jacquard sweater, on sale at 351 euros, then get your hands on this super basic wool blazer with exposed pinstripe lining on sale at 780 euros. Finally add sparkle with this layered necklace with 'ring' pendants selling at 240 euros. Picture credits: all Maison Margiela images taken from eboutique.maisonmargiela.com
Our first swiss Face of the Month, or Bombe du Mois, as we like to call it here at Dashing George HQ, is almost ready but till then here is a teaser...
The world is spinning more and more towards uniforms and fitting in. We have normcore, the wardrobe where we all blend into the background and even worse, the It-bags that every society lady or it-girl endorses in the name of fashion and their own sought-after fame. That is why we, here at Dashing George HQ, are always glad to do a bit of promotion for labels and stores where we actually shop...where the artisans are still hard at work creating one of a kind pieces that we grow to love more and more as time passes. So, this time, we decided to share some images from jewelry store Del Mundo Vacano, located at 88 Eppendorfer Weg, in Hamburg. I have a few pieces already from the Sanchez duo and when I wear them, I feel the hard work that went into creating them. What I found wonderful with this store, is that I could go in and after a consultation, we worked on the pieces together and in the end, this collaboration took on a life and form of its own...this is what fashion should be about. You can find out more on their website: www.del-mundo-vacano.de We love anything that pops colour and attitude. Take a shock of pink hair and our antenna goes up! Our next Parisian has the rocker chic look nailed. We love the hair of course (very Gwen Stefani) and the leather jacket, slim leg jeans and the boots. It is wonderful to see two-tone leather again and we adore the nod to seventies rock grunge with the brown/black leather...it is so very Vuitton at the moment. Our concept store to shop in this time in Paris, has to be Shine (on the Rive Droite, in the Marais). Previously in the Bastille, it houses a wonderful collection of Givenchy, Sergio Rossi, Current Elliott, Martin Margiela, Jérôme Dreyfuss, Issa, Tila March, and much more. Located in a former 19th century pharmacy, Vinci D’Elia’s boutique was recently redesigned by architects Federico Masotto and Regis Larroque. We love this rather eclectic mix…so pop on by and shop till you literally drop!
Start the day off with a bit of happiness…and contrary to all who believe that Paris is dirty and too cool for school, our next Parisian was full of laughter and smiles for our blessed camera. We love the ever-so-chic hair and of course the teddy bear jacket is amazing as well. She keeps the rest to a minimum, letting the jacket do all the fashion talking, which is what I love about the French….there is one statement piece and the rest weaves itself around it…there is never an overload. Our fashion find for this post has to be label Surface To Air. I fell in love with the collection (the lambskin jacket above is from their Fall collection) and my top three picks from the Spring/Summer line has to be: the black bomber jacket, retailing at 340 euros, the strappy monochrome top selling at 130 euros and these Elia sandals priced at 280 euros, which would be perfect for my friend, Cyra. In the city of light, we found so much inspiration. The French, long known for their immaculate sense of style and all that is fashionable, posed, laughed and danced their way into our hearts. We found, contrary to popular belief, that the Parisians are outgoing, friendly and terribly charming. Thank you Paris for these images that will follow in due course and of course, thank you to Jürgen for the picture above...
We are on the road again as of tomorrow and this time we are off to Strasbourg, France. Our goals: to take in the sights and find more looks and ideas to inspire you...so we are offline but at work!

This next Londoner was kind enough to pose for us and was so delighted that we asked that she flashed us a mega smile, which always works in our book! Nothing more mundane than pouting and acting all serious when you want to come across as cool and fashionable. We love the leather jacket (always a good basic), the buttoned up collar and the patterned trousers. Add to this mannish brogues and it is comfortable street wear, but a look that will allow you access to any bar or club when the sun decides to dip. Our top three leather looks are as follows: a sleeveless black leather jacket from The Kooples selling at 455 swiss francs, or this beige leather Bolton jacket by Isabel Marant available through anitahass.com, selling at 950 euros. And be eco-friendly with this Concious leather jacket from h&m, retailing at 249 euros. Picture credits: leather jackets from thekooples.com, anitahass.com & hm.com
With the heat being turned (literally) up on our side, we have decided to do something different and post a special on our favourite new summer song and the singer is so fashionable that she manages to fit in rather well with our ethos here at Dashing George. Say hello to British singer, Lianne La Havas, who blew our minds with her last album, ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’, and now has a hot new single out called ‘Unstoppable’, which is what we, here at Dashing George HQ aim to be…The fashion in the video is amazing and we are suckers for big hair, so from the first frame, we were hooked! Thank you Ivan for letting us know about the new single…it is officially on repeat now… Picture Credits: all Lianne La Havas images from sukidhanda.wordpress.com
